When in Bhutan
Excitement took over when Harlan+Holden asked me to take part in their #CaminoChallenge in Bhutan. What exactly was it all about? Along with Caroline Issa, Jeremy Langmead, Monica Urquijo Zobel, Kim Jones, Tim Yap, and Mark Nicdao, we had to trek to Tiger’s Nest (Paro Taktsang) and Doderak using their new Camino slip-ons as our footwear. I am never one to pass up on a good challenge, especially one that pushes me out of my comfort zone so yes, challenge accepted!
For our leisurely walk in Kyichu Lhakhang, I wore my Caminos in white together with the ‘Lopezia’ gown from La Boutique which I layered with a Harlan+Holden tee.
Kuzoozangpo La! Our homey stay in Amankora + some wine and dine action at our team dinner on the first day.
Serious scenic lush appeal.
In Vogue: ‘Bout that time we went souvenir shopping and saw this colorful exterior along the way.
Elaborate Bhutanese design is on display everywhere.
Trek Day 1 with Mark Nic! Wearing a Harlan+Holden top and Caminos, Tanya Taylor ‘Remi’ dress, and a Preen By Thornton Bregazzi jacket. On sunnies rotation are my ‘Dalston’ sunnies in tortoise by Mr. Boho UK and my ‘Dora’ sunnies by Jacques Marie Mage which I got from Ronnie & Joe.
Hangs with Timmy and Kim overlooking the Tiger’s Nest.
The Tiger’s Nest monastery is a Bhutanese treasure perched on the side of a cliff 900m above Paro valley. It’s just majestic. Despite the long hour trek, witnessing its beauty made everything worth it.
Trek Day 2! Caught phone fidgeting here, NBD. Wearing an Ellery dress, which I took off before the trek started and Harlan+Holden tee. I don’t know about you, but fainting in the middle of the trek? Um, not a good look! Comfort over everything.
This rod + my Caminos = LIFE SAVERS! In all Harlan everything underneath my Ellery frock. Taking a break and taking pictures while we’re at it.
Nothing like a landscape view of Paro.
Thinking about the delish meals we’ll be eating after, haha! And damn, these Caminos are comfy af.
So scenic: Mountains and magic in all forms possible.
Totally forgot how challenging the trek was the moment we set foot in the Thimpu temple. We were blessed and enlightened by the monks’ spiritual guidance after the trek. No amount of exhaustion could equal the feeling of being at peace with your self, that’s for sure
Was offered a robe by the monks when the temps went down.
I’m in the (zen) zone! #prayinghandsemoji
The Camino is the ultimate easy piece. Its design is a sophisticated take on the slip-ons which makes it versatile for both daytime and trek-time. Plus points for the cute colorways, too! As for the #CaminoChallenge? It definitely brought me happiness. And much-needed peace as Bhutan and its wonderful people shared with us its magic and spirituality. Many thanks to Harlan+Holden for this once-in-a-lifetime experience! I’ll treasure this trek forever.
